Why people come to counselling

People can come to counselling because they do not feel that they are living an authentic life and they want to gain insight with a view to making changes. They can also come with a specific  difficulty that is having a negative impact on their lives, these can include but is not inclusive:

  • Issues from the past, sexual, emotional and physical abuse.
  • Feelings of worthlessness, lack of confidence and an inability to enjoy life.
  • Relationship and attachment difficulties. Difficulty in establishing and maintaining healthy relationships.
  • Addictions and substance abuse, drugs, alcohol, porn, overspending and gambling, phobias and obsessions, fear of open spaces, meeting new people and health anxiety.
  • Eating disorders, anorexia, bulimia , obesity and compulsive eating.
  • Bereavement.
  • Crisis situations, loss of job, illness, break down of a relationship.
  • Depression and anxiety.
  • Feeling stuck, lacking motivation.
  • Problems with sexual identity.
